Visit a New Resource For Students: www.College.gov!
We are pleased to announce the launch of an exciting, innovative new resource — www.college.gov. College.gov was designed by students for students and features first-person accounts of students who overcame challenges to going to college such as peer pressure, lack of family support, and financial barriers. It provides relevant, comprehensive information about why to go, how to go, and how to pay for college or other postsecondary education programs. Young people who may not have considered higher education a viable option will be engaged, informed, and inspired to create their own "roadmap" to college.

Busy Beginning to Fall Semester
Health and Wellness Fair Highlights – September 3, 2008
What a day at Mission College! The Health and Wellness booth was surrounded with people interested in learning about healthcare and nutrition. All those who stopped by the booth received ideas and tips from health experts on how to stay healthy and fit. Nutrition plays a major role in a person’s health and well-being and risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol are strongly associated with dietary intake. The Health and Wellness Fair featured exercise sessions and a cooking demonstration by Chef Jessie Sanchez of Mission College Culinary Arts. Topics of discussion included diet and nutrition, aging, blood pressure screenings, body mass index check, health education, and stress management just to name a few. Remember…..managing our health is a key to a long and healthy life.
Welcome Week kick starts the Fall semester
Mission College kicked-off the fall 2008 semester as students were welcome back to school September 2-4 during ‘Welcome Week.’ Students had the opportunity to learn about the different clubs and the various services offered on campus. This was a great opportunity for students to join the fun and meet new people.
College personnel from various departments were available to answer questions and provide assistance to new and returning students. The Admissions and Records Office was extremely busy as students continued to enroll in classes throughout the week. The Bookstore arranged to open earlier than usual to assist with the rush. The Los Angeles Mission College Foundation raffled nine $100 Bookstore vouchers - congratulations to Guadalupe Lalde, Uriel Arenas, Jazmine Pelayo, Dora Alarcon, Tanya Martinez, Juan Delgado, Isela Palomera, Oscar R. Veliz and Ricardo Mata! Nearly 10,000 students are enrolled in Mission College this semester – taking advantage of the low $20 per unit tuition rate.
